Can you recommend a camera that is best for Photographic UAV applications?

Each application calls for a different camera or sensor that is best suited for the purpose intended – be it photography, inspection, or measurement. When it comes to high resolution RGB and NIR sensing and photography, the Hasselblad A6D-100c is the only camera of its kind to directly integrate the market’s leading flight control software, DJI Go, offering direct camera control in a software environment familiar to the majority of UAV operators. What is the difference between a normal Hasselblad camera and one being used on a UAV?

While the A6D-100c shares a few similarities with its H6D-100c cousin such as sensor size and image resolution, the A6D has been optimized for an industrial environment. Unlike the standard H6D camera, the A6D is a mirrorless camera which reduces weight and is an all-metal exterior with multiple mounting points. Power and control interfaces are via a series of locking LEMO connectors and data via a locking USB type-C connector – both measures ensure a stable connection in extreme environments. For higher accuracy, the A6D-100c’s lens mount features a locking clamp design to mitigate loss of accuracy from vibration, and Hasselblad lenses can be delivered with a factory-calibrated focus distance to ensure maximum image sharpness. The A6D-100c can be ordered as a standard visible-spectrum (RGB) model or NIR, capable of near-infrared sensing.

What features should I look for with a camera for UAV?

The best camera varies by application, but in general the camera should record in a RAW file format and have a wide degree of adjustable control easily available to the pilot or camera operator. A high quality lens or variety of lens options alongside responsive aftersales support will ensure that your UAV photographic operations run smoothly.
